The border between the United States and Canada is the longest border in the world and spans across 8891 kilometers or 5,525 miles. It crosses 13 states in the United States as well as 8 of the Canadian territories/provinces. Each day there are thousands of people who cross this border at the many different points. While there is a large bilateral trade relationship between the two countries, the laws of the United States and Canada are very different. It is for this reason that it is important to know your rights if you are trying to enter Canada from the United States. One of the main differences in the laws is in regard to alcohol related offenses - Canada treats a DUI much more seriously than the USA does.
